Dr. Marc Edmund Jones in his book, How to Learn Astrology, mentions the nativity of Vatican City 1 as a footnote to the Pope who founded it; nothing more. According to the Vatican website, the Vatican City State was founded following the signing of the Lateran Pacts between the Holy See and Italy on February 11th 1929. These agreements were ratified on June 7th 1929. Its nature as a sovereign State distinct from the Holy See is universally recognized under international law.
The site though does not give an actual time of when the accord occured. Reading through old newspapers, the editors at Sabian Earth, have decided like the formation of the City of New York, it had already been ratified and just came into existence at the stroke of midnight, almost like a Caesarean birth — planned for a certain date. There is no public documents to state otherwise.
Why Vatican City?
Vatican City has a Fixed Grand Cross i.e. a Grand Cross made of the houses of Taurus, Scorpio, Leo and Aquarius (see the purple lines) 2 . This is also called the Square of Gain as it demonstrates the natal’s desire to display its will and power, a astrological tour de force most akin to the blitzkrieg, where the cross manifests itself for a higher good.
It has as its ascendant 07.29 Scorpio is the “Moon shining across the lake” suggesting man’s magic that he can tap into to expand his consciousness into a deeper metaphysical experience. Its keyword is Rapport. Opposite the Ascendant, besides the obvious and meaningless descendant, is the more important Jupiter in Taurus 04.00 with the lovely symbol of the “Rainbow’s pot of Gold, ” and the keyword of Faith.
It is though the T-Square of Saturn in Sagittarius in the second opposite Mars in Gemni in the eighth, that really hits home as to the grand purpose of this natality: concern about the great works of art commissioned or donated for the Glory of God and His Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. The Square finds its expression in our friend Ceres at 29.13 Pisces, or actively preventing the loss of its collection by creating a prism around it and so making the City as testament itself to its character and upward destiny.

For the record, Dr.Jones does not use the Ascendant as a planet, but we do. One should not be slavish towards a mentor otherwise there is no growth, or individuality, but not too much devitation for then there is structure.
